Why I pump and weekend highlights.

Hi friends, thanks for all the sweet, warm welcoming-backs ;) Good to be blogging again!

Quite a while back, a trainer at my gym stopped me in the middle of a lifting session and asked me if I had ever given Bodypump a try. I really haven’t ever been much into group fitness classes besides spinning and the occassional zumba class back when I was in college. Zumba – Ill be honest here – I never took seriously, I didn’t push myself but I did have fun. I thought Bodypump would be the same way. I was wrong. The sole reason I’ve stuck with my Monday  classes is because it’s taught me how to push myself beyond my limits (and make really exceptional constipation-esque faces.) After experiencing a few weeks in the class I developed the idea that I have no limits. I’m 5 foot 2 (give or take an inch) and teeter around the lower hundreds, but a lot of people don’t take into consideration that it’s not the size of your body that really matters when you lift and push yourself, it’s the amount of power you can muster up from within.

Sure, I still think that I benefit most from my lifting splits, but I take Bodypump for the reminder that I can and am able to really push beyond where my body tells me that it thinks I should stop. It’s also a really awesome workout and great for a change of pace if you like endurance and lifting at the same time – you won’t be lifting extremely heavy as you would be during a lifting routine, but there are more reps and your heart rate does stay elevated for much longer periods of time. Whenever I lift weights now, I chase after the burn instead of stopping before it happens ’cause the burn is where the changes happen. I look forward to my Monday mornings every week that I’m able to go and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Any ‘pump lovers out there?

As a matter of fact, I started my week off this morning with a class, good stuff ;)

Just for fun: my weekend in snapshots…

Saturday some of my family and friends went to a venue on the water for drinks and dancing. Always a blast.

Yesterday I gave my niece a “makeover” (as if she needs one, she’s like a live Cabbage Patch Doll except cuter.)

We had a dance party.

We also discovered that straw hats and smeared lipstick are so hot right now… take notes.

Peace and love (and good to be back.)

Meg

  1. I don’t got to pump religiously but the few times I have gone I really have enjoyed it! Its definitely a good strength workout but I do admit I miss the major sweat inducing, heart pumping feeling that cardio and interval training gives me!

  2. OMG! Your niece is seriously a DOLL. Of course she’s got good genes…you and your mom are both gorgeous!

  3. Hey Meg! Great name by the way :)

I just found your blog and am loving it! I have been wanting to try a bodypump class so bad, just from the good things everyone has said about it! I do a lot of interval training/HIIT training, so I’m sure it would be so much fun!

I look forward to reading more of your posts :)

  4. I’ve gotten more into weight lifting in the past year, but I’ve never tried body pump before. I’m always a bit nervous to try group fitness classes! It’s on my list of things to do this summer though, so I need to muster up the courage to go soon!

Also, your niece is the cutest girl ever! :D

  5. Welcome back Meg! :)

  6. love that you back :) and body pump was so fun. exhausting but fun. we should do it again for sure! :)

  7. I would love if I could have a BodyPump type class at my gym. I always have trouble pushing myself unless it is for a race or I’m with a friend. I really need to try and do it on my own. Your niece is also so adorable!

  8. Yay! It’s great to see you in my reader again love! Glad you’re doing well. :)

  10. I’m glad you’re enjoying body pump so much,Meg! Even though I’d probably always prefer Zumba because it’s just so fun to dance and everything… Plus,I can do it with my Xbox at home instead of paying so much money for a gym membership ;)
Anyhoo, your niece is ADORABLE! And I can see already that she’ll be as beautiful as her aunt in a few years, seriosuly. :)
